This (and the other suggestions above) will usually work... a friend of mine who runs the clothing dept. in my (ex local) bike shop said his Shoei rep presented him with a 'special tool' for just such a job - turned out to be a wallpaper edge roller! (1" wide) - which is perfect for squishing the polystyrene helmet lining edges where there is localised pressure...

Had same issue with my helmet but pressure was on my forehead. Taking the helmit off after a ride was usually a joke, have a red dot on my forehead, all the traffic in the area came to standstill looking like robot.

quick fix is to take material lining out, heat up a teaspoon with a zippo and tool the polystyrene back a bit. Worked like a bomb!!!.
