Saddle mods

Now I can't decide if my saddle is uncomfy or not. After a 400mile trip last weekend there were times when it felt bad, and others when I didn't notice. I'm umming and ahhing about whether to get it changed; bit more foam or maybe a gel pad slipped in there.
Has anyone else had theirs worked on? I'm not bothered about a slight increase in height.
I look forward to hearing your views.

I bought an AirHawk for my last bike, and it fits the Ten like a glove, and I can swap it about with the XJR too. I use it often for any long haul riding, although I don't find the Tens' seat uncomfortable it's just a sort of insurance.

It's one option, without the need to have to send your seat away.

At first, I also wanted to have my seat customized(higher, flat, wider and other foam), but I've done 10.000km so far and I'm happy with it as it is , for now. Look in this Tenere section and search for Tenere-Doug, who runs a Khaki Tenere and had his seat done. Looks good and comfy, there was also an adress were he had it done(in the U.K.). Here in Holland we got Ray, who has done lots of seats, also one for a Dutch Tenere rider: look under www.rayz.nl under "voorbeelden"(=examples), where there are lots of pics of customized seats(for all kinds of bikes, but mostly for allroad and offroad bikes).
Greetz, Hans.

P.s.: enclosed two pics, the first seat by Ray, the second Tenere Doug's seat.

Thanks for that Dallas. Will have a root around.

I had a gel pad put in the seat of my X by a company in Coventry.

Just a guy working out of his home, but they did a good job, not cheap, but my a@se thanked me for it......

Nick.

That's the same guy who did mine.

While I don't find the seat uncomfortable, may I make one suggestion: try a pair of protector under-shorts from Dainese and other brands, which has padding on strategic areas, and I find them more comfortable for long rides than without them while giving additional protection. This is the one I have: http://www.dainese.com/eng/articolo....ticolo=1875788

On that topic: I always wear cycle shorts on long trips(under my motorcycle gear, that is!), highly recommended! Indeed the padding in these shorts are very helpful and comfortable.

and to add a bit more (maybe why I don't suffer over long distance), at the very least a pair of seamless boxers/shorts/Y-Front/Wifes Silk Knickers - whatever your flavour!

Seriously, the right under garment will make a huge difference
