Just fitted Oxford 'Sports' Heated Grips.
 
Just before venturing out with the www.advrider.com folk of the UK, a ride planned to cover a route around Radnorshire in Powys, not only did it dump with snow, but luckily enough I had taken delivery of a set of the new 'Version 7' type Oxford Sports Heated Grips.
OK, at �62 delivered, they are not the cheapest, but after using them at the weekend, they are worth every penny.

Installation was a little tricky as the tank needed to be removed so that took about an hour. I wanted to be 100% sure that the cabling was being run without any chaffing or sharp kinks.
I wired the main feed direct, as not to exert any extra load on to the bikes loom. This just means that you have to turn them on and off when starting and stopping the engine. There is a fail save 'minimum voltage' safe guard switch in the control module which turns then off if battery power is reducing, so no totally flat battery should occur.

The rest of the installation went fine.
The only hiccup was whilst out, the left hand unit grip became loose. It appears that the adhesive supplied did not take to the coating on the standard handlebars. I have since emery clothed the old glue and coating off the bar-end and re-glued the grip back on with plenty of Loctite Superglue.

On the 'v.7' control unit, there is an on/off button and four led indicators for the temperature settings. I found 75% being perfect for the ice cold riding conditions of the last weekend. I have Acerbis Multiplo T handguards and these have quite big plastics so wind chill is reduced well.
I reckon a set of muffs will render your hand toasted if used with these heated grips for full on winter riding........ they just don't look very sexy though IMO.......:eusa_sick:.

I think the wiring direct to battery option is safest, although a 4amp max load is estimated, I played safe having read one person's issues with wiring loom load. Then it's just the control (on/off and temp) you need to manually set each time you mount or dismount in cold weather.

Take the fuse out in summer if your that concerned. If you wire to the battery, it is easy accessible under the seat if you need to remove or install it quick.
