Ha! Excessive quantities of WD40 were the solution to a stuck mirror and the left-side grip. It doesn't appear to be enough to get the inside-the-bars bits for the hand (lever!) guards out and I need a drill to create the alignment holes so the original bars are back on.

I have put them on with the 20mm risers, though, and on left full lock the clutch cable is very tight -- there's no play left although as I didn't check before it's a bit hard to say if it's changed much. No problems on right full lock.

I noticed that on my bike the clutch cable is routed over the top of the horn bracket and below the oil-filler cap and modifying either should free up a few precious millimeters.
