Good find,

Just spent 1/2 hour looking through it - was interested in the Tool Tube, and then some other stuff caught my eye!!!

I'll have a better look later - Cheers Mike.

Well tell 'em to respond to their website enquiry e-mails, I asked about handguards a while back and got no reply.

Barkbusters

Gregor, was you asking them if Barkbusters will fit New Tenere, as I like the look of them too!?

GStry 27-01-09 17:46

For $4.99 (US) you can get the tool tubes from here, http://www.agrisupply.com/operators-...670/ss/manual/ Not sure if they ship international but for that price it would be worth a try.

The yellow print apparently comes off easily with acetone. :toothy9:

Yes mate.

Old Git Ray 05-02-09 01:10

Got it

I received the tool tube and could only find two places to put it.

Under the crash bar/radiator as per my pic or under the exhaust covers either side.

Not sure if I am happy with it yet. The fixings will need to be beefed up prior to loading and it does stick out a bit on the right.
Another problem is that it will need removing for an oil change but it is at a low and central level for weight.

Gas_Up_Lets_Go 05-02-09 09:22

Touratech do a bottle holder, I have two of these and I fabricated a bracket so that it fixes to the rear hangers. I load them up with a metal water bottle and a MSR fuel bottle, you can see them on this picture just in front of the pannier.

You could use one of these to provide a permanent fixing, and mount the tool tube with the straps? You'd need to put some extra security on it in case the straps came loose though.

Just a thought.

Remember this....crap.
It filled up with water (well not full actually), there is a small hole that will be used for drainage in normal upright use and this has let water in that cannot get out. Yes I know I should have filled it in. I'm going to resite it on my new front racks.

Any more news on tool tube mountings?

http://www.infar.co.uk/tim/gs/IMG_1869e.jpg

I had one in a similar position to Old Git Ray on my F650GS twin (above). I took the precaution of sealing the hole first--if you have Ikea bookcases one of the little metal knobblies used to set shelf heights is a great fit. I was using the tool tube for first aid but unfortunately the top came off the TCP bottle--pooh.

The only downside I've found so far with the Tenere is problems trying to mount stuff, much of the frame is hidden away. The underneath of the silencers looks a clear place to mount tool tubes but I'm not sure it's a strong enough area.

I'm probably going to get some stick for this but what the heck;

my tool kit comes in flat pack form and fits in my wallet,
its credit card sized and has yamaha assist, RAC a membership number and a 24 hour phone number on it
It even fixs punctures!!

What a :tool:

Tim Cullis 14-01-10 23:18

Jolly good, but the bike's being shipped to southern Spain next week and I'm then flying out for a three-week tour of Morocco.

Your flat pack tool set isn't much use when you're 'Up to Kyber'.

I like the "OPERATOR'S MANUAL CANISTER"

unfortunately it appears as "out of stock" here

Good point, well put. I dont think they do an international version!!

Enjoy morocco and post plenty pics for those of us not fortunate enough to be able to go.

zOU 15-01-10 23:20

Always considered a tooltube but havent found a nice place to put it.

Nice horn, what kind of horn is it?
Isnt it getting damaged by mud/water?

Tim Cullis 16-01-10 21:53

I took off the silencer covers to examine the brackets underneath. I don't think they are strong enough to use as mounting for a tool tube and the associated contents.

went to my local DIY shop today and they only sell PVC tube by 3m and very large diameter.
and they didn't had any "endings"

guess I'll try another one

stoic bloke 17-01-10 13:08

yeah was checking b&q newry none either, might have to go to a plumbers supplies rather than a diy outlet

Tim Cullis 17-01-10 17:46

I had a play mounting the tool tube in the same place as Old Git Ray but IMHO it's too low (compared to where I had it on the F650GS twin) and it liable to get knocked off on the first serious piste.

Looks like a Stebel Magnum, I have one too fitted in the same way, nice and loud and no problems yet in over 8000miles of use..

zOU 26-01-10 08:42

I went to the local B&Q and although they had more pvc tube, they had none over 3cm diameter -_-

looks like I'll have to go to another shop again :p
