Try one of these Stadium seat cushions at under 8. They are virtually as good as a 70 Airhawk cushion!
I use one on my XTZ and my GS. For even more comfort put it under a sheepskin from Lambland (as peviously mentioned).

I've found my XTZ to be happiest on the motorway at between 4000 and 4500rpm, Good on fuel at that speed and engine feels smooth too..

Please also understand that if you are caught speeding in France........... French plod are not known for their 'hospitality' to the British, especially bikers?
Each time you pass a pay stop on the motorway your ticket has the time on it. Arrive to early at the next one and you CAN be in trouble. Not always.

Italy can be hell. As mentioned in a previous post, Italian car drivers will try to knock you off? Dont ask. Macho macho c..p. Plus a UK plate?

Why the hurry anyway? Enjoy each part of the journey and take in the culture.

Please keep safe,

Ryland

When I was last in France the police were very hospitable :laughing11: and even invited me to come and sit in their car while they relieved me of 90 and suggested that I should be doing 90kph rather than 90mph. I think they were *less* hospitable to the French chap I was following, but then they did have the power to put points on his licence.

Popular urban myth. You will occasionally find police speed traps and (well signposted) fixed cameras on the Autoroutes, but they are not in cahoots with the Autoroute operators.

Because sometimes you need to cover big distances to get to the part of the world you want to spend time enjoying, and there's not a lot of culture to be seen on the motorways of Europe.
