exhaust downpipes glow
 
when i start the bike in my garage for couple of minutes the downpipes on exhaust glow red hot,can anyone offer advice

I've noticed this on my Tenere when leaving work in the dark. Does not seem to be anything to worry about apart from taking Dan71's advice :)

what a waste of energy! mines are too glowing at the manifold. I was also concerned about this, but it appears to be normal ;)

I think part of the reason people used to (and still do in certain applications) wrap their headers in thermal insulation was to improve scavenging or something like that (using the wasted heat to help suck out the exhaust gasses)...
