Consumables / Spare Parts
After a request for the part numbers for brakes pads on another thread, I thought it might be a good idea to list alternatives to OEM parts for consumables like brake pads, filters, chains, sprockets etc. It might be a good idea to copy and paste and add any info you have to the list?
So here is what I've found already: Brake Pads EBC part number/s: FA181 for the front, FA208 for the rear. Oil Filter K&N part number: 145 Sprockets 15T front 45T rear are the OE sizes, 520 pitch. JT part number/s: front - JTF 308.15 rear - JTR 855.45 for OE pattern replacements (note the number after the point refers to the number of teeth). Drive chain Yep,the handbook doesn't actually say how long it is... fortunately I counted. 110 links (OE length) 520 pitch - ideally use an O ring or X ring, and a rivet link rather than clip. My personal preference is a D.I.D 520VM, although have just fitted a Renthal R3 (significantly cheaper than D.I.D in the US). Spark plug NGK CR7E Headlight bulbs H7 55w single filament (dip and main beam) Hope that helps some of you who have reached the point where bits are wearing out... JennyMo xxx |
Hey, JMO! Is that sparkplug right? The manual says NGK/CR7E, that's a different one. Greetz, Hans.

My dealer suggested the DPR8EA-9 (which I see was in the older XT600E, and is also used in the TDM and others) would be fine as a spare/replacement... mind you, that might be because a) NGK don't list the 660 engine on their website, or b) that's all he had in stock... Anyway, I'm sure it will work, but as you say, the correct NGK number as far as Yamaha themselves are concerned is CR7E... Here is a handy list btw. http://www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/Images...m46-263591.pdf xxx |
Sorry to butt in, but the correct spark plug is indeed the NGK
CR7E whereas the Iridium one is
CR7EIX or you can get a more expensive Denso one which the correct model is:
Denso UI22
|
Not butting in - it's important to get this information correct...
My DPR8EA-9 is still in it's box - I'll have a word with my 'dealer' when I get back to the UK... (although I'm sure it will still work as a temporary spare?) xxx |
Think on the positibe side, Denso has factories in USA and if you manage to source a Denso one it'll cost half of what they charge here for it (11.99)!!

Just been looking into some spares prices,
front brake lever part no : 5VS8392200 is 44 !!! front wheel bearing are 20 each !! and the rear 15. Bearing should be no problem to find I will check the numbers when I have the wheels out. I am battling to find an after market front brake lever, there must be a simple lever out there somewhere without the adjustments? any ideas where I can look ? The Rethal sprockets part numbers are front : 281-520-15P Rear 219U-520-45P-HA |
I fitted an old DRZ clutch lever today and it does work, not a perfect fit but a good replacement in an emergency which is handy because I have quite a good supply of the pre-shortened variety.

It is also physically the same shape as one of the quad bike levers ASV do, although the quad version I've seen doesn't have the pin to attuate the master cylinder, so you'd have to modifiy it slightly (with a drill!) to make it fit? Personally I think a pattern FZ1 lever would be the way to go for the brake - unfortunately the clutch lever on the the Ten' isn't the same size as the FZ1 clutch... xxx |
The brake lever looks to be the same as my TTR600RE adjustable lever - that is available as a pattern part for 11.50 from Wemoto .

Looks quite like the FZR600 3HE as well, I'd need to check, which means I'd need to find the box that has the FZR600 3HE parts in...I may be some time...

Bearings
Genuine Yamaha bearings are a horrfic price. The advice I have had is that SKF are best quality. Here are the part no's you need.
Front & rear : 6203-2RS http://www.bearingboys.co.uk/6203-2R...Bearing-1889-p Sprocket carrier 6304-2RS http://www.bearingboys.co.uk/6304-2R...Bearing-1930-p |
Thanks scottnet - presumably the front and rear bearings are the same, and the same each side of the hub? do you know how many you need? (two each wheel presumably?)
xxx |
2 x 6203 for the front
2 x 6203 for the rear 1 x 6304 for the sprocket carrier |
Excellent - thanks for confirming those Russ - I fear I'm going to be needing some of those when I get home!

It is 20mm ID, in the sprocket carrier there is spacer that reduces the ID to 17mm for the axle
It's always good to check |

Me again...
Does anyone know the part numbers for the steering/head bearings... not that I need them yet, just wanting to cross reference the numbers though... Many thanks, Jenny xx |
Steering head bearings
The Yamaha part no is 93332-0008 for the top and 93332-0001 for the bottom bearing.
These are tapered bearings.
I have a had a look at various bearing sites but can figure out the correlation between the Yam part no and a SKF part number.
For example the front wheel Yam bearing part no is : 93306203XN that translates to a bearing number of 6203 and so the SKF no is 6203-2RS (the 2RS is just the double rubber shield).
A typical tapered bearing part no is. SKF 32004XQ
Any ideas ?

Steering head bearings
Hoi scottnet!
Are you sure that Yamaha equpped the Tenere with tapered bearings in original? Due to the costs, they normally fit ball bearings in the steering head of the road bikes, maybe not in off-road bikes, who knows? So you may define the tapered bearings by yourself, knowing the dimensions. Nevertheless, I'm delighted that the wheel bearings in the front and rear are equal. God job, Yamaha! |
Steering head bearings
The steering head bearings are :
Top : 32005 JR http://www.bearing-king.co.uk/bearin...5-x-q-skf/2762 Bottom : 32006 JR http://www.bearing-king.co.uk/bearin...6-x-q-skf/2773 We checked the steering head bearings on three bikes all done 5K miles and this is what we found. On two bikes the bearings seem fine but there is very little or no grease on them, and on the other it had a very pronounced straight ahead notch. The notch was taken out by greasing the bearings and rotating them in the sleeve but have since been replaced. The notch was probably caused by overzealous tying down in the shipping crate and may have stood for a while before being unpacked. |
Hi all, anyone know the part number for clutch/throttle cables?
|
Anyone know if the XTX/R and the XTZ share the same rear disc?
