Avon Distanzia update - direct from AVON UK

Morning All,

I have just got off the phone with AVON UK HQ in connection with the Distanzias we are all so patiently waiting for :)

The update is as follows folks:-

Front 120/70/17 - 300 being produced next week and then shipped out

Rear -160/60/17 - undergoing new tech development - production will commence first week in November - approx 500 produced in the first 2 weeks of November.

Therefore, given this was a direct update from AVON UK i am crossing my fingers that they are true to their word, so i would suggest you all start hassling your local tyre distributors/suppliers very shortly which in turn should hopefully keep pressure on AVON to deliver to their promise, albeit almost 5 months later than when we first started this thread.

Hope this is of some use to hardened Distanzia fans.

Cheers

WB

Excellent work WB. I am not a convert as I have not tried them yet, but was wondering when they would be an option again. :sunny:

The Dragon front and Diablo rear still have a few miles in them. Had decided to go for the Avon Pro extreme thingies if we were at winter when the wore out, or the Michelin Pilot 2's if there was any summer left. When is summer?:BangHead:

Thanks again for the update.

There has not been a shortage of R sizes.

What kind of mileage you guys getting on the Distanzias? I've just bought a set of Michelin Pilot Roads which Busters had recently on special. But might look at Distanzias next if they last a reasonable distance...

From what I see on the forum, OEM tyres are illegal at around 2000 miles (ditto for mine but still on the bike....) and Pilot Roads should get around 5000 miles.

Got my front distanzia today from Busters, took just over a week to arrive.

Worry Brother 13-10-08 22:26

kevan,

Good news matey. I think its the rear that a number of us have been struggling to get hold of. Do you know if Busters have any rears in stock at ll, or an idea as to when they will be getting anymore in?

Cheers

when i contacted busters last week i was told they were getting a delivery of distanzia tyres friday 10th, so hopefully they now have some rears in stock as well.

Update from AVON UK a few moments ago folks:-

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you but I have been advised today that the Distanzias are going into production w/c 8 December. They should be getting through to the dealers at the end of next week or w/c 15 December.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd

So, fingers crossed they are now true to their word, and we can all have a nice Xmas pressie or 2 :)

Cheers

Keith,

They suit both road and off road for both the X and R. In my opinion, by far, the best tyre for the XT660 by a long way. Great in the dry, excellent in the wet, and plenty of miles out of them.

When you first ride on these tyres its like being superglued to the rd,you really can push to your limit and still feel 100% safe.

At least one spanish member had to cancel his order because there was no stock (although the web claimed there was). I think it was in the same shop you just mentioned.
