Awww you make me blush, I bet you tell that to all the guys..... :signthankspin:
:jumping0006: Here! I have a question what's been on my little head for sometimes, why does Maxwell123455 calls you Monty?? what's that all about? |

More likely it's the Monty Python allusion - now which character would I be? - probably the foot descending in the opening credits - how about OGRi for the Secret Policeman's Ball. Right - time to start a new thread - who is which character from the Python series? |
I am still looking for an Xt owner wanting to take the big jump and let me play with his bike. I have a few local guys that are interested, but the distance between us is a problem and there is still quite a bit of work on the XT to get it to where it needs to be.
Anyway, I tested a few other tricks on the 700 raptors and the gains where very impressive. Tested one of them last night, 103mm bore, 11:1 compression piston (but true compression is higher, bigger throttle body, ported head, my intake and exhaust valves and some fine tuning on the PCIII with a new custom made intake system and stage 3 cam. On my dyno that raptor is pushing out about 65HP, which if I do the corrections to give you an idea what HP you will get if it was for example on Kev's dyno, this raptor would push out around 74HP. And we still have to add a better ignition system which gave me 2 to 4 HP more on other raptors. The ignition will go on this coming week and if all goes well we might get lucky and get around 77HP out of this raptor. 3 more raptor will follow next week, one of them is running a more aggressive cam that has the potential to produce even more power still. If our wildest dream come true, we might just knock on the door of 80HP. But, like I said, wild dreams at this stage. In theory, all that is possible on the XT. |
Very nice HP gain, what was the torque curve like low down around 4500rpm.
|
There was no loss in HP and we actually gained torque and HP from 2000 RPM to the limiter. I speak under correction and I need to go look again to see the exact gains, but we where up at least 10% across the whole RPM range
This was comparing it to the same motor when it had the stage 2 cam and less compression. |
Freez, you are a true gearhead, and a testament to what people in our business should strive to be.
Sorry for the walk-off guys. I get into designing something and don't even know what month I'm in. I have gotten myself in a bind with all the work. I have been able to get some new Raptor products out for testing, and so far they are truly surpassing my expectations. This is gonna trickle down into the XT market. I have SERIOUS new billet cams, and CNC headwork. Hopefully this will energize the (Raptor) community, and cause a new problem..... Like having money in my pockets! I will learn how to count it later |
I have seen Kenny's latest results & they are quite amazing. They were tested by another company & have proven to be the best on the market.
Well done Kenny, without you guys we could not achieve these big HP gains. :smilies1349: |

Ok here it is.
KDS new big and nasty head test by KBR, (that's Kennys company) We had the opportunity to do some dyno tests the other day. The machine we were had the opportunity to test on was a 869 cc 11:1 compression Rocket Factory kit with a T-rex +1mm head, Megacycle X2 cam, KDS bored TB (47), Dynatek Fuel controller, RCI 650 injector, Dynatek Ignition (all runs done on curve 2 as it comes on the box), Monster Dual Drag pipes, and a Velocity Intake. It made a baseline of 74 hp and 62 ft/lbs. We pulled the head off and swapped it out for the new KDS race head. We put the same cam, rocker arms, even valve springs in the new head. The only thing we changed besides the actual head and valves was the throttle body and the intake boot (which had been port matched my Kenny at KDS to match the flow of the new head). We immediately dyno tested it (the Raptor never left the dyno, straps were tight the whole time). It made a base line of 79.9 hp and 62 ft/lbs. I feel like it was a great improvement from an already good running head, at over 5 hp and no significant loss in tq with a full race head. To give you guys some perspective on the numbers compared to something else…. Jade had his machine dynoed at Rocket Factory and made 82 and came here and tested it right after and made 72. This might be able to help make better comparisons to some of the larger build numbers from their dyno. We also had another customer who did something very similar and had similar numbers and results. I want to take the opportunity to thank Jade and Kenny from KDS for their help and for trusting us to be the ones to test this head on our dyno and trusting us with their work. The opportunity is greatly appreciated. It means a lot to us to be in the position to do this for these guys. I really think we will routinely see 100hp. That is the goal. One thing that keeps nagging at me is that the current cam selections don't even begin to exploit the heads flow. I think it will break 90 hp the way it sits on "non-stingy" dynos http://www.raptorforum.com/forums/im.../3question.gif |
