Yamaha Tall Screen XT

Has anyone seen or used a Yamaha tall screen for the XT. Ermax do a +10cm height screen but the Yamaha one seems taller.

What I don't want to find is that it creates more turbulence than being in the free air (with the standard one)! Any info anyone?

Ive the high screen and im 6ft4 and the wind hits me around my shoulders/neck when at 70mph. Its alot better than having nothing but if i where to be sitting at 70mph for a long distance i would maybe want something to take the pressure off my neck.

I'm 1.76m and have a GIVI screen think it's about the same size as the Yamaha one and the wind hits me on my nose:smilies0119:

Thanks - I feel like a midget at a mere 5'11". Think I'll give Yamaha a call and find out how much they cost.

Yamaha original tall windscreen is fine. Even more, you will get 7-10 km/h more on top speed. Bike is more sensitive on strong wind.

Genuine Yamaha tall screen is 54.95 dont know about the givi screen or where they are sold

Hi, just returned from 700 mile jaunt round northern france, I fitted the tall yamaha screen (50 odd quid) and it works SO well, found the bike almost unridable at 80mph with original small screen, this one gave me next to no turbulence. 50 quid well spent!

You need to order it from a Yamaha dealer, I don't think you can order them online.

Here's a link to Yamaha's site for a picture ....... http://www.yamaha-motor.co.uk/access...VK-W0710-30-01

I really had an issue with wind/noise when i bought my XTR. But then again i didn't know better.....it was my first bike. Having a Arai TourX didn't help either. I got a Yamaha tall screen, and like everyone before me, it only took the wind of my chest...barely. But, a heluva lot better than nothing.

So i raised my light fairing/assembly with 70mm. Not much better, but being 6ft something, it might help less taller guys?

Im thinking: if you want quiet.....go by car.

I bought the OTR windscreen, don't know about the original yamaha screen since I got the bike mounted with Yamaha tall screen and the OTR version gives a LOT less buffeting.

I thought i'd post some pictures of my "raised" headlight fairing. I can just say that i think getting the wind off you if you're living "up north" is all about getting the cold off you. For us living in Africa, or Oz, or Southern Europe, etc, the wind is more of an annoyance then anything else...most of the time. in fact, i guess, it's not only welcome sometimes, but very close to critical. You can decide for yourself if it's worth anything. I got the idea from another thread called "XTR Rallye", i think. I did this because i so much want the OTR Rallye fairing, but the ZAR/Euro exchange is not very kind to us down here.

If anyones interested, i'll put the drawings in Word format and mail it to you. I made mine from 2mm 304 stainless. The best is to have them laser cut and then CNC bent.
