removing baffles

have some titanium ccc i know it might be simple and straight forward but can sombody tell me the way to remove the baffles i know it the screw underneath but i don't want to start pulling on the wrong thing!!! you know what it's like lol!
thanks.:family:

There is only one rivet holding each baffle in place, the rivet will need to be drilled out first. Once the rivets are out, you need some long neck pliers to pull them out. Simple as that.

If this helps - the rivet is only a couple of centimetres from the end.

so whats the two self tappers (screws) at each end of the cans underneath that look as if they go through the baffles i thought you would take these out and they come out easy????

maxwell123455 16-08-08 09:22

When the cans are first made they have a pop rivet in but most people drill them out and put a screw of some sort in as the pop rivet can come loose and fall out after time.

The picture monty shows the 2 baffles out, the left one has a small hole on the under side of the baffle where the screw should go in. Take the screw out (slowly so's not to core the threads) and then as capt says get some pointy nose pilers, take a good grip of the small in pipe that comes out of the baffle and sort of wiggle and pull it out. It takes some tugging it get it out but will come out dont worry.

but be warned with not baffles in it will be

LOUD AS FUSH:066:

FANTASTIC :HeyHey_GOO2MN:

Bear 25-08-08 22:40

Are they much louder with the baffles out?

simo1432 25-08-08 22:46

very loud with lots of popping on closing down the throttle, think i might put them back soon don't want to much attention from the POLICE, and they sound nice with baffles in also. good fun though seeing the face's of car driver's as you rev it in standing traffic lol.

streeter 26-08-08 21:31

CCC's

Leave them out, its sounds so much better, and cars move out of the way a lot sooner, I have had mine out since December and ride every day, not had a problem with the police yet, and have been right behind a police bike for about three miles, he did the looking in the wing mirror to see what was behind him :-) but never pulled me.

If anyone from the south west ever get the chance to ride through Cheddar Gorge with CCC's take the baffles out as its sounds so good.

Trouble removing baffles.

Hello guys i did try today to remove baffles from my Carbon Cans , i drilled the rivets and tried to pull them out but they seem to be stuck... any advice ? Is there a possibility that mines are not removable ?

Denny 14-03-09 22:15

I had trouble removing my baffles after I put them back in when we went touring with the Mrs. I had to bash them quite hard to get them in, so removing them was almost impossible. I found the easiest way was to remove the can and slide a wooden pole (I used a pick axe handle which was small enough to slide in, but larger than the baffle) in from the other end of the baffle and hit the can downwards so the pole pushed the baffle up and out.

I hope this makes sense, it's hard to describe what I did. Here's a picture....

I have the same problem with my termignoni exhausts. The baffles are internal and the are not visible from outside they look like full racing.I tried to pull them out but its very hard if any idea here how to put them out would be appreciated or i will contact yamaha which brings them to greece how to put them out

maxwell123455 15-03-09 17:10

I just get a very long pointy nose pilers and grip onto the baffle and wiggley it (move it about) to loosen it and it then slides out.

bjerrang 10-06-09 16:40

I removed mine today. Holy christ what a sound. You will get a permanent hearing disorder riding this bike afterwards. Use hearing protection :toothy2:
My baffels is going back on tomorrow.

Stewpot666 26-06-09 18:16

Popped out my bafflers 2day, and tbh i can't really tell the difference, it sounds wicked, a bit deeper when closing the throttle but overall, not to much difference, also is there any more power when taking em out?

Chris1811 30-06-09 17:16

One of my rivets came out of my baffles and i lost it some where so i removed the other one and my god it sounds good!

i havent had an issue with the police yet *touch wood* but if you dont ride like a t*** then they dont realy seem to mind!

as for power my bike with them in could reach 104mph easily with me sat up right! now i have to get nice and low to the bike to go that fast. i can pull about 91 happilly with the baffles out! dont know if thats because im restriced or not though! :(

And as keithblade says loud pipes do make cars move etc, but dont take that for granted, ive had a few where cars drivers must have been blind and deaf!!!

happy riding!

What other mod to the stock exhaust ????

Hi,
I had a '05 WR450F wich I modified its stock exhaust with good results.
Mainly I cut off two of the inner baffles and the spark arrester.
I wander if is it posible to do the same with the XTR.
Thanks.
