Larger windshield

Hi everybody

First post so a few words about me:
XT660Z owner in Bucharest, Romania, my first bike :) 1200 km traveled together to date. A few mods: Renthal Twinwall handlebar, Geo hand protections, central stand, Yamaha 44L Topcase (not the original pizza topcase - a plastic one)
I'm looking for a bigger windshield. Any suggestions? Thanks. Andrei

Hello and welcome! =)

The only high screen I've seen so far is the one on Metal Mule, sadly it seems to only be available tinted:

Maybe someone else have more suggestions. An alternative is to mount extra wind deflectors on the top or on the sides of the original wind shield. Haven't tried it on the Tener, but they usually minimizes a lot of the turbulence. Here is one from Touratech, but there are cheaper alternatives out there too:

Givi has a taller wind shield (+10 cm) advertised on it's web site but sadly without a picture.

@Molgan: ugly, ugly the tinted screen :)

Hi there, my Zed is with Metal Mule at the moment and I will get it back on the 20th. Then I will post as many pictures as possible with the mods on. They are making a taller windshield and I will get them to leave it on and get some pics for you. They are now taking orders to my knowledge. I suggest you contact them directly and mention my post on this site.
Cheers SteveD

Just spoken to Paul (MD) Metal Mule and they are making the taller screen in clear perspex. Keep an eye on their site as they are going to update the pictures. PS I know that its my bike because the two screw holes in the cross brace were for my GPS!:Gangsta2_9BI664:

I have seen both the Metal Mule screen and the one from Powerbronze. In my opinion the Metal Mule one is far better made. They look about the same profile so I suspect their benefits would be similar

I can assure you they are the same thing, having ordered a screen from Metal Mule last week and they sent me a Powerbronze badged screen.

scottnet 18-09-08 20:51

That's very odd. The powerbronze version I saw looked badly cut so the edge finish was very bad, the MM one looked much better and had a rubber strip for around the edge

My screen is from Powerbronze USA. At the moment of order, I thought that they are from the same source. Unfortunately, I didn't like the PB USA screen either when compared with the OE. But wanted to say that I have received a rubber strip next to the screen in the package. I feel like, I will go back to the OE screen soon; I didn't
feel much benefit from the tall one enough to sacrifice from the better look of the OE screen. Instead, I have bought a new road helmet for intercity rides and keep my Shoei
Hornet DS at home.
:-))

That's what happens finally with my PowerBronze shield today.

I am sure that it was not a stone and I was not too fast.
Going back to the OE shield this week; it's a stronger material. Honestly speaking, I never felt 100% confident with this, just it was tall.
