I use the xt660r every day to trvel to work through the forest on fire breaks and dolermite forest roads. It is fine for this sort of riding but better with new tyres fitted with a more open tred pattern. It is heavy and anything more than this sort of riding and you will soon find its limit. I have just recently given my bike a searious diet and shed aprox 30kg. This has improved the bike vastly and given you want to use it on road mostly i think it is a far better bike than than suzuki Dr400. I had a 400dr for some time but found it under powered especialy if you need to carry a pilion.

could you told us what you have done for your bike?

iam very intrested to do same to my bike.

it will float better if it would be 30 kg lighter....

and it would be easier to lift also
