Front mudguard mods

Hi guys,

I use my bike for offroading and green laning and I was wondering if anyone has modded the front mudguard assembly?

What I'm looking to do is replace the front hugger with a proper offroad type mudguard that has a high rad guard.

I can't find any that will fit the XT660 as the Rad scoops are too big on the bike for clearance. I would entertain the idea of building a bracket to raise the hugger so I can fit an extreme knobbly front tyre with lots of mud clearance.

Any ideas?

How about a flexible rubber mudflap attached to the rear of the standard fender ,

That could be done. You've got me thinking about butchering my old rear tyre to fit as a high mud flap...

I have been thinking about getting some metal mesh over the radiator for protection. Saw some on the XT660R review in TBM with the Metalmule logo on it but can't find it on their website. Might start looking at Halfords for the boy racer mesh they put behind their airscoops on the bumpers of pimped cars.

Try B&Q , they do mesh in there . also this was what i was thinking about with the mud flap.

Where does the mud come from that lands on the radiator? Is it from the front, top of the wheel, or thrown up past the hugger from the bottom. Where are you suggesting the mudflap should be placed?

I would assume its from the splattering of the front wheel.
