HI i know what you mean, when i first got mine it was like having the brakes on and the front end was like superglued to the rd after a few hundred miles you wont notice it .just try and do your counter steering in one smooth motion ,keep tyre pressures in nomal range i run 29psi front ,30psi rear ,thats what works for me.cheers johnno

I thought I would get used to it, but im not yet. I will check the tyre pressure tomorrow to see what it is, but wondered if anyone else has had this effect with the distanzias?

distanzias

Yeah I think I will stick with it as they are great tyres and when I see one of my more experianced biker mates I will let him have a spin to see what he thinks.

Its fine when you counter steer and lean the bike to turn the problem only occurs when you have to turn the front wheel, like for keeping your balance on a round-a-bout approch, or in real slow traffic etc, its like when the wheele gets stuck on a white line or on a tarmac seam, below 5mph its fine but between 5mph and 25mph its stuck solid, its not as bad when the tyres are cold and worse when warmed up.

that is weird fella, these are the best tyres i've ever had on any bike in 18 odd years of riding. I must admit when i first had mine fitted it felt like riding thru foot deep mud, so much so i went back to the shop to check wheel alignment etc, but once you get used to them and adapt your riding style they are the dogs danglies.
I run 30 front and 32 rear, this works for me, i'm about 5mm from the edge of the rear and feel super confident in the wet. Stick with em and you'll be repaid for your patience.

I cant believe this but the last few days my steerings gone like you describe, just took steering bearings out and rust was found.Have cleaned them with WD40 and no damage done so regreased and put back, bike back to normal.cheers johnno

I've had the same problem with my steering since I T-boned a car last year. I had the bearings checked and they turned out to be fine. The forks were twisted and after straightening them the mechanic said that one of the yokes may be bent as it's still sticking.

Distazias

Maybe worth looking further into it then, I hate having to turn at slow speeds now the front is so grabby. Maybe just wheelie every where for now :HappyRoll_ANPIUI:

Bearings

Well took the bike to my Yamaha dealer and they told me that my bearings in the head were totaly knackerd, which for a bike thats only done 4500 miles and is only 6 months old is bad. Thanks bikespod for pointing me in that direction.

But because of all the weather we are having and about to have all the part time riders are getting their bikes seviced and M.O.T'd so the gargae is booked up for the next two weeks :sad1:.
