Tubeless Tyres, HELP!!!
 

Hello, it might be a stupid question. But as far as i know XTR uses tyres with tubes. But, people here suggesting Avon Distanzias which are tubeless tyres.
Can anyone explain this? is it safe to put tubes in those tyres? I'm new to all biking business and i need to change tyres. Help!

The only reason for using an innertube is because all the air would leak out of the spoke holes in the wheel if you didn't use an innertube.

Yeah i get this. thanks. it is just on some forums it is said that it is not safe to put tubes in tubeless tyres. cheerz

The Distanzias are recommended by many forum members for the XT660X but there is a wider opinion on which tyres suit the XT660R best. This is because the R is used more off-road and the type of tyre should be chosen with the balance of on/off road in mind.

Whichever tyre you choose it should be with a tube unless you change wheels for something like the Marchesinis or you have your spoked wheels professionally sealed to accommodate tubeless.

Can I just add that the Distanzia is more of a road tyre than an off road tyre. The compound of the tyre is very soft and would tear up on rough terrain. I've seen pictures of a torn up distanzia and the large tread delaminates. I think you need a harder tyre to be honest.

I think you can get a distanzia in a tubed variety. Makes no difference really, just the tubeless tyres on tubed rims will be a pain to get on and off and likely to run hotter because of their weight.

Bit of a follow up question from the last post, as I am thinking of fitting tubeless to my XTR with tubes as there is a greater choice.

Are tubeless tyres (with tubes) harder to fit onto tubed rims, than tubed tyres?

Just to add to this ,I have spoken to a few riders who have had very rapid deflation of their tyres (blow out) because the valve has "Delaminated" that is where the valve is fitted onto the tube it has simply came off resulting in the tyre going down in a split second .they were using VEE RUBBER inner tubes cheap as **** made in taiwan ,just be carefull I bought heavy duty inner tubes . If your fitting new tyres check out the make of inner tube .
