mixing tyres
 

Rear Pirelli dragon gonna need replacing soon, but front ok, still loads of tread left want to replace rear with Avon Distancia,( and eventually front as well ) but will it work ok with front Pirelli ?

As a long time user of Distanzia tyres, I would strongly advise you against mixing these 2 particular tyres, the Distanzia's have a complete different thread pattern, and a much grippier compound than a Pirelli, mixing these two can lead to an unsafe balance between the two whereby the rear tyre will give you a heap of confidence and the front tyre won't.

This can lead you into thinking you can approach a corner without realizing that the front compound could fail to perform as well as the rear one and you could slide the front tyre and come off.

thanks for quick reply Cap, thought that might be the case, so probably better off replacing as pair, if anyone interested, Discount motorcycle tyres.com are doing a pair of distansia's for �99 and i think that is fitted as well !:icon_thumright:

Do you have a link to that deal? Thats a serious deal for a pair of fine tyres.

Guys,,,Ave checked out this mob on the Distanzia scene.... an its a wrong price....�148 plus vat fur a pair.... fur th erear only �79 plus vat.....although it says 99 the pair on their site...........:blowup:

Now thats a shame John, �99 was to good to be true! Still a good deal though I think.
