To simplify mathers.
Ur K&N stays on the inside and the DNA stage 2 replaces the original outside airbox cover and acts in the same way as the other airfilter.
So ur bike gets much more fresh air to breathe.

Is there a picture of the DNA stage 2 filter fitted to show us??The original outside airbox cover resides on the right side of the bike??

Stogs, I am usually a very patient man, but you are putting my patience to the test here.

I told you to look in this forum from A to Z and you will find what you are looking for.

Hi Stzog

I have already answered this question the other day, I gave you a thread containing a photo of a DNA stage 2 Filter. You asked the same question in the ASK KEV section & in the Performance Modifications & Enhancements section.
To refresh your memory, this is what I said

It all sounds a bit confusing.

All you need to do is replace the main Yamaha filter with either a K&N or a DNA filter. Then replace the airbox side cover with a DNA stage two filter. You will then have two high flow filter on your bike.

Have a read of this thread http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=165
