Tool Kit

I have been changing the tyre's on my XT today,and dicided to fit the new tyre's myself { the last set were fit in Andora by the garage }
Lucky I found this out toady in my garage rather than out on the road in the middle of no where :sunny:

But My tool kit did not have a 14m allan key to remove the front wheel spindel :sad7:

Did anyone else get one in thier tool kit .

Maybe Yamaha think that you will only ever need to fix a flat on the rear wheel :emoticons:

I'm buying a 14m allan key today
save me :walk: home if I get a front wheel flat .

TBH who trusts the standard toolkit anyway. I usually add extra little bits and bobs as I go along. If I'm touring I tend to have far more stuff than I need for example (although you usually meet someone in distress who needs something you've got).

I have one of these sorts of things:

'Cept it's a 'Scott' Bike one so folds down even smaller. (in fact its about 60x40x25mm)

I agree with MC on this. The KTM tool kit is pretty good, but even so I have modified it a bit. When touring, the top box is set aside for tools, spares, fluids and inner tubes. Also food and waterproofs go in there too. A torch can be indispensable for those night time 'issues'.

your both right,I to take a lot more kit with me on my trip's
But you would have thought that Yamaha would have added what was needed to remove the front wheel in the standered tool kit

The tool kit that came with my XR400R only as 3 item's in it.
A spark plug remover,on one end and a timimg cover remover on the other.and screw driver
you also get a multi tool which fit's front and rear wheel's and also fit's many other parts on the bike.

Its probably because the first time you would have used the allan key it either would have broke or just chewed the allan key head. Ive used one or 2 different took kits with bikes and all the keys, spanners ever thing are cheap crap. I think they make it like that so you damage something so have to go back to them to replace the parts you wrecked with there crappy tool kit.

I always carry a torch once had a ZZR250 which the battery once slide from the holder to short it self on the mod'ed carbs. I could see i thing pitch black and only had the torch for a friends until i notice what the probelm was, then it was full speed home to charge the battery again.

just been looking for a 14 mm allan key and found one of these instead
hexagon bit socket from Halfords

3.79 bargain

if you want a genuine bike front axle pull they do them in busters 11.99

Can you post the picture...i can't see it. Gotta go to halfords. It would seem no-one in the M25 sells reasonable quality tyre levers.
