Gonna have to get new tryes soon anyway by the looks of it

Have you got CCC's on your bike? That first pic looks like the cans have rubbed on the tyre when going over a speed bump/pothole/dip in the road. Check to see if you have any black residue on the underside of the cans.I have experienced the same thing :(

When I saw his bike at the Ace last month I had a look under the cans and couldn't see any tyre marks. Couldn't explain it myself. Dodgy tyre quality? Who knows!

Wow I have never seen this on a road biased tyre before. I would say this is a dodgy tyre and when you change it over for a new one it will not reoccure. Looks cool.

that's OEM Pirelli Dragon...same one is on my bike with over 11k kms...ok ready for replacement but never happened anything similar...yesterday came back home after about 1300 kms trip and the same tyre was even good enough to ride during rain...

I had the same problem that has meach witn Dunlop Sportmax on the rear tyre...

The first half was really good, but the other half of tyre looked just like meach's.

have a nice day

Meach, did you ever get to the bottom of the tyre issue?

cbr-ica 19-01-08 14:29

are you very heavy? or ride with a passanger often?

maxwell123455 19-01-08 16:31

I remember seeing a guys R1 had the same problem like this but he had just done a sub 10mintue lap of the Nurburgring on his first lap. So by any chance was it very hot that day you where riding the bike? and where you giving it stick?

meach 19-01-08 18:07

Tony, didn't really find out why it was like this, can only presume i was just giving it a bit much in the bends, haven't noticed it since on Distanzia's.

Cbr-ica, heavy ??? me???? its all muscle honest.

Maxwell, it wasn't that hot as you say maybe too much stick

cbr-ica 19-01-08 23:13

... and tyre pressure?

leviticus 20-01-08 00:27

My tyre did exactly the same, maybe it was slightly more worn than yours, but after a 50k ride home i noticed the rubber on the edge. Then i noticed the cord showing through in one tiny place. i suspect the compound was overheating due to lack of tread and the rubber started moving around.

I fitted a rear distanzia next day......
