Akra Exhaust Repairs?!

hello,
after a recent accident my akrapovics for my XT are in a bit of a bad way, their quite scratched up and one of them is caved in slightly and twisted. Anyone know of any way/where i can get them fixed?

Any advice will be much appreciated, dont fancy shedding out another 600 quid for some more

Cheers

You have 3 options:

1) Find a local uk can manufacturer that is willing to re-sleeve your cans, at an affordable price

2 Send them back to Akraps for them to rebuild them -very expensive solution

or.........

put it down to experience, bin them and

3) Call Simon at Carbon Can Co and get yourself a set of Carbon and Titanium 60mm oversized bore stubbies which outperform the Akras hands down and cost half as much. (there are 6 owners of these cans on this forum, and they are all raving about them)

cheers for the info CaptMoto. Option 3 is quite tempting, i just love the look and sound of the Akra's. Is there any place i can check out the whole range of carbon can exhausts, cant seem to find a site for them?

cheers

Unfortunately at the moment they are having a website rebuild, hence there is no website except for a main page.
However if you look in the gallery there are plenty of CCC on people's bikes and a few here too http://xt660.com/showthread.php?t=103&page=3

check out nein's photos and videos, or FostersMonsters youtube page. lodsa fun :D

But you can always join us tomorrow morning in Fleetwood at their factory where you can pick and choose your own cans, and have them fitted there. suck 'em and see sort of thing. ;)

Cheers Capt Moto,
Im unfortunately without my bike at the moment, its still in the garage having the insurance repairs done, but when im back on the road i might have to take you up on that.
I contacted hein gericke though, where i got the akra's from and apparently they sell a re-sleeve kit for about 160, but the UK akrapovic importers are closed untill september so the carbon cans are looking like a possibility.

Cheers Mate

At the moment? You wrote this in May 2006. That was two years ago? I wonder just how long it takes to create a webpage... :rofl[1]:

Funny as it may seem to you, I can't comment on the reasons for Simon not been able to rebuild his website, or get someone to do it for him, I know it is needed for his image and company status, however I am content to acknowledge that the major part of his "skill" is involved in the making of the exhausts and to manage and develop his Raceways Racing Team.

Which is why, some clever clog came with the idea of setting up a website for CCC on our own webpages specifically dedicated to exhausts and parts for the XT bikes. http://www.xt660.com/ccc/

Not so much funny ha ha more funny shock. Whilst I understand both that you cant comment on CCCs ability to create a webpage, nor as to why it would take so long. As an IT bod, I find it quite amazing that they are potentially losing out on some business. Whilst you correctly point out that we are the lucky ones here, you cant help but think about the other customers out there.

Well I hope he gets it sorted soon as websites generate more than image and status.
