Just had a call back from Garmin. Nice chap told me that there shouldn't be a problem with the Garmin falling off as the screw is more an anti-theft device. It is still possible for it to fall off but not very likely as he tested one by dropping it out of a window 50 ft from the ground and it stayed in it's holder.
He also pointed me to a forum called www.zu****rums.com where there are a couple of Dutch guys that have designed a mod for this screw to make it impossible to come off whilst riding. Not had time to sign up yet but I was informed that there is tons of info on there (hmm...just like this site). Gotta add that the features of the Zumo are very, very impressive. It actuallly tracks where you go and erm....cough*how fast*cough at any point of your journey. EDIT: Looks like the auto sensor didn't like that address. Just delete the space out of this address. www.zumo forums.com |

Just a note to anybody that's got a zumo and lost their security screw. There are a couple of Dutch guys on the zumo forum which have made a screw that can be undone by hand. OK it's not an anti theft device but it makes your sat nav much more secure when your riding. I've bought 2 myself and for 4 each that's not bad.
Still not received the proper security screw from Garmin but if I was stupid enough to leave the sat nav on my bike you could pinch it in the time it takes to undo two nuts. |
