Yamaha xt 660 r cooling problem

       Hallo,
I have a 660 r from 2004 and I have a problem with the cooling. I did a slow ride about a week ago where in needed to stop alot, and my engine went hot. I stopped the engine and later rode home where I noticed that the level of cooling liquid was just under minimum. The next day I filled my radiator and after I put the cap back on and turned on the engine it started squirting out the cap. I already order a new cap, but the problem is not gone. I drained the system and filled it up again, but still the same problem... Can somebody help me or put me in the right direction? I am not a mechanic, but I know the basics. Thanks in advance! |

Have you checked for leaks anywhere?..checked your oil for water?..looks like mayonase...

I checked for leaks and checked the oil, all OK. I think it is the cylinder gasket, so I am going to change it and then see it the problem stops

       Why??

Because if there is a crack in the gasket there could be more pressure when the enige starts. And that could be why the water squirts out.

TBH Im not sure which gasket you mean. However if you think its the problem then go for it.Fingers crossed.
I gotta ask..is the cooling system working like I originally asked? |
