Exhaust with yamaha panniers
 

Hi im looking to get a new exhaust, was looking at MTC mainly for the price but ive heard they sit too close or can melt the yam panniers as there pretty much plastic. Is there a solution to this or any other exhausts that are modestly priced and wont melt the panniers, also will different materials give off less heat say carbon fibre or titanium over stainless steel. I dont really wanna have to get new panniers as i have them off majority of the time but am planning a few little weekend trips.

Had a similar problem with GPR exhausts. I had to move the, OE Yamaha , upper pannier rails out by 12mm, at the front and rear mountings using spacers and longer bolts. The bottom of the Yam panniers still sat on the lower supports but, from the rear, the panniers don't quite look parallel to the bike but a bit more like a pair of dangling saddle bags. I had to do this mainly because there wasn't enough space for the release lock to operate as it connected with the GPRs' cans rather than a heat issue.
