Coolant Query

Maybe the wrong section,if it is sorry..
Is this the correct stuff?.. |
Must be my eyes cuz i couldn't quite read the label. I'm sure there's something about not mixing fluid types as they can form gels and cause rad blockages. I guess a thorough flush would sort that issue if you didn't know what was in the system to start with.

If you click on photo it gets bigger..but its still not that clear tbh.
Its an OAT based Anti freeze and Summer coolant..suitable with all engine types, including aluminium. I pretty sure its got the original stuff in so Im planning on draining it and filling with water and letting it get up to temperature and letting fan open up the system to flush it out. Going to do this twice and will refill with this stuff. Not that clear about what water to use..I have always used tap water, maybe boiling it first.. It was bought for my daughters Punto and will be going in my car too |
Good move on filling up with water and draining. I guess tap would be fine since it's only in there for a short time . I know you know but for anyone else reading out of interest, be careful draining hot fluids and then adding cold fluids to a warm motor. Let the engine go cold.

Distilled water bought ..1.25 for 2.5 litres.. Wilko's.

Job Done...easy enough..drained and refilled with tap water. Let in run till fan kicked in twice and then drained and re filled with tap water again. Same process.
Filled with 50/50 mix with the manual stated level of 1 litre in the radiator and 0.25 litre in the coolant res. Ran it up till fan kicked in and left it till the morning. Different amounts given in various posts to those in manual. Any ideas? |
