Replacement clocks/Dashboard options and experiences.

I have just bought a 2004 XT660R

It was stolen/recovered and the dashboard is a bit of a mess. It's cracked, the back-light doesn't work and most of the characters are unreadable.

It would be nice to get Yamaha replacement but they are just silly money. Although being able to adjust the C02 in the 2004 is a nice option.

I am thinking to replace it with a Trailtech unit.

Has anyone got experience of this ? Does the bike need the original clocks for any reason ??

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Welcome...Trail Tech have nice kit. I'm sure you'd be missing out on the ability to 'interrogate' the dash board for diagnostic reasons and also you probably wouldn't get on-the-fly fault codes on the TT dash that you would on the original unit should something amiss happen. I'd pop 'round to SRT's and ask the guys there. They know a thing or two.......more than Marriots.

Well !! I don't really need a bike shop.

I'm a BMW Motorcycle tech. I'm well used to poking around in Motorcycle guts lol

It's just always good to ask on a forum as owners and their real life experiences are often far more useful than manuals etc.

Is the only set of clocks on Ebay too expensive?..

I think there are 2 set listed one at 220 with 50k and the other was 159 bit not sure of mileage on them But should be able to get them set to what you want. Just checked again the set at 159 has sold so only one set left
