Adjusting Rear shock preload with Aftermarket tool

Hi guys,

i tried to increase preload on my bike today with an adjustable C Spanner, but there was no way that tool was going to fit behind the reservoir on the shock!

I DO NOT have the original toolkit ( If anyones about to sell their bike and wants to sell off the toolkit, let me know!) So I'm wondering if anyone has had any success adjusting the OEM shock with an aftermarket C Spanner, and if so, where can I get one!

Plenty pricey but at least it looks like the correct one.....plus even with the correct c-spanner it's still a PITA to do on a Tenere

Are the toolkits definitely the same between the different xt660 models?

Specifically, which one do you want. .?

Tenere, XT660Z. I should have made that clear!

instead of spending 35 pounds, try adjusting it with a grinder?

The spanner or the shock ?:laughing7:

The Z,X and R models all have different rear shock part numbers so they are not the same. Id ask the ebay guys to clarify where it came from. It definitely looks like a Z c-spanner.

As has already been pointed out, even with the C-Spanner it's a PITA...

It's easier if the bike is on a Centre Stand when you adjust it.

I've used a long bar and tapped the end with a hammer before, works well enough, but no good if you're regularly changing the settings.
