DNA air filter.

I just wondered if the DNA air filter that sits inside the airbox is ready to use as it comes or do you have to oil it before fitting?
May seem a silly question to some.

Pete.

Not a silly question at all. ...I wondered the same!, but realised it was pre- oiled and ready to fit. Worth checking it's a nice snug fit....Its really important no dust or dirt gets past ! Steve

Thanks for the reply, I'll order one on the strength of that.
I just asked the question with regard to buying a service kit at the same time if it was needed.
The bike will be used 99% on road so it would be some time before the filter will require servicing I imagine.
Cleaned and oiled many foam filters in the past but this will be the first from DNA.

Same process as foam filters...I use the same spray oil on my DNA and K+N filters.

My DNA filter is not a foam filter. Its fiber. And the process of servicing it according to the instructions in the DNA service kit is quite specific and easy. Spray on filter lube might work but the DNA lube is very thin and flows into the fiber when applied on the outside ridges of the filter folds coloring it pinkish so one can see when its saturated just enough.

My DNA and K+N filters are pleated material too.

The foam cleaning process is the same as the material is it not?Basically washed out with a cleaner and allowed to dry followed by a light spray of an oil based agent.

I use my k&n cleaner on on both my k&n inner filter and my dna outer filter with no problems at all

dna filter is a few mm taller than the oem with a foam ring on the top so it seals much better than the oem.
I change mine with t6he dna because there was to much dust comming in with the oem filter.
