       Potential XT owner saying hello

       Hello,
After the last few years of sitting behind traffic on multi cylinder superbikes or in my garage fettling temperamental Italian V twins, I think I have seen the light! On the odd occasion when I get an hour or two of "me time", I reckon there's more fun to be had down the B roads of Wiltshire and the odd foray down a green lane. Consequently I am in the market for a big single supermoto type machine, and the XT660X appears to fit the bill. I shall enjoy perusing the forum to try and learn what to look out for as a potential buyer and welcome any advice forthcoming Cheers Andy |

Welcome mate to the site mate. Like you I ride sports bikes I have a blade,fz1 and tiger. And xt. Something about the xt660 that is just fun. When you by yours. Look for a 1 or 2 owner bike with really low miles and mint condition they are out there. I would not buy one that has been well used by 5 or 6 owners. I bought 2 xt660 about a month ago one is a 2 owner and the other is 1 owner from new both under 10.000 miles both in show room condition and never had any mods fitted. Both 2007 reg one was 2200 stole that one the other 2700 that has 6500 miles and came with 3 months warranty. I bought 18 months ago a xt660x 2011 one owner with 3,600 miles on it and again show room condition for 2900 but I did steal that as sold it for 4000 3 months later. So when buying yours hold out for the right one as there is a lot of crap out there but also so some real bargains if you keep looking and jump on them as soon as they are listed both mine came from 50+ owners . And the people on this site are always happy to help. Happy shopping mate

Thanks for the welcome and the quick reply. I saw one on
Ebay, 2005, looks immaculate with considerable extras, a bit overpriced but willing to haggle. Then he said
       9 former owners! :icon_pale:......
