does anybody still sell fork spacers
Emailed Kev and he stopped making them in 2008. Does anybody still sell them. Are they still a good mod for the soft front suspension?
|
AFAIK....NO...but the dimensions are 38mm wide by 30mm high..
I had some made up out of an old crash bung/frame slider. And they did/do firm up the front end. |
I have just had new fork seals fitted to my XTX, while they were apart, I went up one grade on the oil and reduced the air gap by 20mm, much better for me than standard, the guy who did them suggested trying that before pre compressing the springs. I was going to do the same to my Baghira but sold it before I got round to it.
I am 15 st and 5-11, other bike is a 1200GS so not used to any front end dive at all. Al. |
Does anybody have any pictures of what the spacers look like.
And does anybody know anywhere else to get them? |
They are a simple shape..a cylindrical plug of metal or hard nylon that acts as a spacer between the top of the spring and the retaining nut.
TBH I dont see why a simple stack of the correct sized washers wouldnt do the job too. Any small engineering firm or a man with a lathe can knock em up in ten minutes. My brother turned mine up out of old crash bobbin material. |
