XT660X for track and road
 

I will update this thread every now and then!

today is the first 70km I ever road on a Yamaha XT660X.

I thought I really had to get used to the supermoto riding style but it feels kinda natural!

the bike is running on pilot powers and almost got the chicken strips from the previous owner off.

I read so much on this forum about the good and bad things about the XT and I could recognize them all.

- under heavy braking its hard to steer into the corner because the front is going down so much. ( this problem will get solved, this winter the XT will get a nice setup for hyperpro suspension <3 )
( with that said, lots of peeps say you can feel its heavy.. I only felt that its heavy when I tried to wheely. that XT wants to eat corners for every meal of the day)
- The tire pressure is very sensitive on the XT. a few 0.1 bars can make the difference between sliding or ripping the out of the corner.
- The on/off injection is really there, the Kev fuel mod will probably fix that this winter
- I need supermoto boots and need to train my face muscles because I have smiled all 70km and it hurts haha

Tomorrow I'm going to ride with my wife as a pillion, I'll post one update before winter hybernation and next year is going to be interesting ( lots of track days, and lots of road riding in Germany ) so that will have lots of updates.

Kev's fork spacer is a quick and simple/effective/cheap fork mod.

He did sell them at one point ...

Dimensions are38x30 mm..material's your choice .I used old frame sliders

Thanks, I read about it and even some guys on YouTube were reffering to the Kev's fork spacer mod that it is so effective!

the thing is that I can get the hyperpro suspension very cheap and it also changes the rear spring!

Fair play to you..the mods was less than �10 so for me it was too cheap not to do.
Have you checked your rear spring is set up for you ?..

the hyperpro are not that cheap but in theory well worth it ^^

you mean the new spring? its made for weight from 70-90kg and with gear on I weigh around 85kg so that should work!

I was refering to the standard spring adjustment...I was going to fit new springs but the fork spacer mod stiffened the front end up nicely. Maybe change the oil this winter..cheap enough.

In this case I'll skip the mod and go directly to the hyperpro suspension.
I'm a little stubborn in cases like this ^^.

tips like that made me think twice about a powercommander and instead of a powercommander I bought the Kev's fuel mod.

Good afternoon fellow XT riders,

has been a busy winter and since there is a dutch XT forum I missed lots of time on this forum.

The season has started in the Netherlands and last sunday was my first experience with the XT on track with 5 degrees Celcius.. freakin cold!!

I installed Hyperpro suspension in back and front and that made a major difference compared to the standard suspension with the forkmod ( spacers ). you really can't compare those 2!!

I need to discover the absolute limits of the XT but I allready did some pegscraping and sliding and that was very easy to control. was even hanging off the bike and still scraping pegs on some 80/90 km/h corners and it was no problem for the XT.

its an awesome bike with lots of potential! the weight didn't even bother me for one second.
