Off Road Ride
Awright ladies :gayrepost: haha. Ive been charged with organising The green lane/Road ride.
Heres my dilemma, im a knob on my Tenere i will take it anywhere its legally aloud to go and a few offroad centres. I usually ride with guys that ride all manner of enduro bikes. Sometimes my rides can ermmmm get a little....... rough. I want to get an idea of who will be joining me and what tyres you will be running and what level people ride at. I can do easy rides out, and i understand that people have too ride their bikes home. But i dont want anyone too be disapointed and think that the ride was boring. But on the other hand i dont want too intimidate anyone either Sooooooo............ help me out guys. How shall i plan it?? |
Looks like no one wants to do any off-tarmac riding.

I think some 'normal' green laning would be fine.....it's all us Southern softies are capable of! !!.....but seriously the only reason I want to keep it sensible is because it's a long ride home. Steve

Due too lack of input, The route ive planned is pretty sedate. Mainly wide easy gravel/stone tracks, and grassy two track. but The dales being mainly limestone underfoot can get very slippery in the wet. Turning some mild scenic lanes into a challenge.
Ill decide final route on the day weather and rider and tyre dependant. :idea1: Thats if anyone wants too join me of course :violin: . If not ill see you all at lunchtime 🖒 unless i get lost in the wilds of yorkshire :rofl[1]: :missing: |
That sounds good to me, will give it a go. Thanks for taking the time to sort it out.

Just for reference, I managed one of Jon's routes with no major issues on Michelin Siracs and that was my first time off-tarmac. I'm definitely up for a ride out on some of the local green lanes.

All into a nice offroad ride. But my Tenere will wear Heidenau K60 Scouts, as for me the route one way is around 900 kms... Not very keen of doing that distance in one day on knobbies. Also heavy offroad is no problem at all. Guess i'll just have to take it a little bit more easy on those tires then eh!
Looking forward to meet all of you up there! Cheers! |

have you got some leggings yet ARN too go under your knee pads?? k60s will be fine as there isn't much deep claggy mud around in the dales, 900 km one way. well done sir :glasses1: |
Currently got proper road tyres on and although ive got a big set of knobblies in the house somewere it would be a vibey ride from Edinburgh down to Dales fully loaded with camping gear!!
Ill stick to the black stuff this year, unless theres some gravel trails |
