The FI fuse should be 10A. I think you dealer is getting mixed up because you said the "third fuse" which is actually the headlamp (fuse 3), which should indeed be 20A. We should be talking about fuse 5 for the ECU/FI.
Stick to stock fuse ratings or you'll only give yourself future trouble. If it's a short to earth that's blowing it, it won't make any difference what value fuse you put in, it'll still blow. You must find the short and rectify the problem at its source. FYI factory fuse numbering and ratings for 2010 XT660Z Tenere: http://i864.photobucket.com/albums/a...psh6hedfmi.jpg |
Thanks alot man, bunch of fools at my nearest dealership, helps alot, yeah your right about the Fi fuse... But it still primes?
|
Thanks so much for there'll, bike up and running early last night, it was in fact the Fi, the one wire going into the carb had been rubbing the frame and had worn through, patched it up and what do you know, fuse doesn't pop.

The injector wiring is a ticking timebomb on all early Teneres. It will wear through and fail at some point unless attended to and padded out away from the frame. It took Yamaha seven years before they sussed this issue and started fitting rubber pads to the frame rail! |
Yeah I have received positioned my whole loom, to fit snug and decrease wear.
|
Funnily enough it was my ignition wires that chafed through on the seat rail rather than the FI loom. Old inner tube is awesome.

Yeah there's that random section without a cover on the loom... Just waiting to chafe.
