Tail tidy XTX
Steelbike (Italy) tail tidy parts. 80 delivered to UK. I was really impressed with the quality and finish of the parts. It all fits together perfectly and uses the original rear light, indicators and even the reflector.
http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/...ps42qefuyu.jpg http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/...pspjcyfvth.jpg The indicator connection threw me a bit until I got the instructions translated from Italian, if you use aftermarket indicators you leave the centre part in, if you use the standard ones it twists out (with the help of a hacksaw) http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/...psvyhqto3y.jpg with the centre part removed the rubber grommets from the old mudguard fit a treat http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/...psj96okp1b.jpg The finished article. The only down side is the actual number plate support is not intended for a UK size plate. I'm going to drill a couple of extra holes to get round that though http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/...psjdzdyxdm.jpgOver all a big improvement |
I have a Steelbike tail tidy on my XT660Z and I was also really impressed with the quality.

But is this tail tidy? It looks like you only remove the plastic thing the license plate is on. No light change like a normal tail tidy. Anyone got a link for these?
|
Not bad - definitely an improvement over stock!

Must agree doesn't look that much tidier to me. Does look a quality piece of kit. |
Not a massive difference, but it opens up the back end by losing that massive ugly plastic mudguard. What I like about it is I didn't have to cut anything off or alter any parts. i'm not a fan of the hacksaw

Very subtle mod indeed. I would at least put a pair of smaller indicators and change the glass of the stoplight to a clear smoke one.
Hey, at least you get to keep all storage compartments under the seat. I. Ant say the same the way I'm going. |
I thought about changing the indicators but most of them are a bit cheap looking. The smoked lens is a nice idea but 70 is a bit steep. anyway I'm happy with the result.

Cutting plastics to fit tail tidy
Does anyone have any photos of what and where to cut the plastic to fit a tail tidy?
