How many 1000 miles in general is a XT660 expected to go
 

I just wonder when to NOT by a bike because of too many km driven, and has to be changed or having a really expensive repair.

It all depends on how it has been looked after - if the oil has been changed frequently and with high quality oil right from the start of its life, and the bike has generally been treated well, should be fine for 70k miles +....!
