Going the scoot route...
 

Just got a year old Honda SH300i step through scooter....just for the commute/winter hack. Still got the Ten all safe and sound at work.

The scooter I reckon would definitely keep up in a drag race - it's quick off the line and handles pretty well. The twist and go thing is very addictive....

Scooters can be a lot fun. I was very tempted by an Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 promotion that ran here a while back, they were throwing in a 125 scooter with the deal. But I need my license for my job so I probably had to take early retirement if I went that route!!
I see your in Maidstone, I've had many happy days flogging a TDR250 around there.

If I was to commute on a bike and had the space/money I'd have a scooter for a winter hack and then a tenere for my normal bike and possibly something special for those sunny days!!!
