Rectifier plug maintenance

A wee bit of advice to do with the rectifier plug. My bike is an 09 model so I wanted to check the plug before I took it on a long trip soon. Anyway got the plug separated and the contacts are like new inside, so all good. Before I put it back together I thought I would spray some electrical lubricant spray in there before I connect it up again. Is that a good idea ? Any suggestions.
Will probably put some electrical grease round the plug after I connect it up and an old bit of bicycle tube to protect it from water/dirt etc.

put wd 40 on it. the problem is heat from the engine. not dirt or water.

Pinch the female sides up a touch to get a nice tight fit

Thanks for the comments, the plug is quite tight it took me a while to separate it, I only ask because you see lots of pics of the connector filled with dielectric grease and stuff. Just wondered what other owners did.

Yep, dielectric grease. Literally fill it up, nothing will get in after.

Thanks, seen lots of pictures but wanted some real world experience.
