T7 on its way !

T7 on its way! Have you heard about the new Yamaha T7 guys? It is going to replace the XT660z. What a pity because I love the XT, I managed to buy a brand new model last year, it is grey and blue, I really love it and I am so happy I got one of the last ones.

Well I am curious to know what you think about the upcoming replacement. Is it 2 cylinders by the way? Are they trying to copy the new Africa Twin or do they have a legitimate reason behind a new bike?

Happy New Year to you all !!

the XT660 motor won't meet the new euro4 emission standards
for motorcycles thats coming in this year...
so thats why the new motor/bike..

I hope to god they don't copy the Africa twin... I don't want a
near 1/4ton ADV bike......

Me neither.

What would happen after Brexit?
The Euro 4 emissions standards are scrapped to the UK and Yamaha and other brands make bikes for solely for the Uk market. Sounds good!!!

Our track record not too good on these things. More likely to ban anything that pollutes and higher congestion charges if you live down south

I'm sure the T7 will be a good bike.....but it's not going to be massively lighter than the Ten. And that's the only thing I'd like to change about my Tenere is the weight. ...apart from that it's my perfect bike!. The only other bike that comes close is the CCM , but that doesn't have the lovely (I think!) engine of the Ten.
And the Tenere is such a great bike to modify and fettle to make it suit you and what you want from the bike. Steve

Sounds about right for the "Politically Correct" UK.
The UK giveth and then taketh away....

I do like the potential of the new twin and better suspension less weight and a smooth twin will all be pluses. I don't like the vulnerability of the low downpipe especially in the dirt. And the price would be interesting

Nothing would change. A law to enact all EU legislation into UK law is already in flight. Manufacturers will pretty much continue to treat the UK as the EU, so we'd still get the same restrictions.

Well it isn't going to be any lighter than the MT-07 which is 182Kg (wet), that's for sure. Add in the off-road farkles, fairing, proper rear subframe, bigger tank and protection I think it'll probably end up around 200-210Kg at best, pretty much the same as the 660 Tenere's weight (but obviously with 50% more power!)
