Best/worst excuse for pulling out in front of you. .....!
Went out for great ride today. ..first one in weeks. Heated gloves keeping my hands toasty. Flask, sandwich and a mince pie and 5 hours of great riding through Sussex /Surrey and Hampshire. The only downside was a lady in an estate car pulling out right in front of me. ..had to make full use of the Ten's twin Brembos. I blared my horn at her and when she turned into the garage a mile down the road I pulled in next to her and said 'why'...did you not see me....? She said sorry , but when she turns left she can't actually look to the right because of her size....at this point I realised she was about 30 stone! So what happens at a junction then I asked. ? 'I try to time it so I never need to stop 'she said, 'or just try and look out of the corner of eye '! I actually couldn't think of anything to say and just rode off!. Tenere + Brembos + Distanzia's = great stopping abilities! Steve

Happens every day in the good ol UK.
Re tests throughout life perhaps, based on age, health, size.........?????? |
So should we feel sorry for her and then next time she may cause a death if she is aware that she could be the cause of a fatality and still continues driving then she is more than guilty. I would have no problem to report this at the very least to hopefully make her find a solution

I would at least like to see some sort of Highway Code retest at renewal, that would be easy enough to roll out. |

I recently did a speed awareness course for doing 37mph in a 30 area. Well worth doing actually. I learnt loads of things that had changed in the 25 years since I passed my test. One of the things I learnt was it's your responsibility to know the updates in the Highway Code. This book is updated 8 times per year apparently. I haven't looked at it in 25 years until now that is. |
