New XT660X owner

Hi all,

Dash here. I decided to register here after reading quite a bit of information about the XT660X on this here site.

Bit of background: I come from the naked bike scene. Ive owned a Honda Hawk for 3 years (really fun bike) and after that I got a TRX 850. I turned the TRX into a naked because I love the way naked bikes ride. After 7 years or so I got bored with the TRX and decided to give supermotos a try after hearing a MuZ Skorpion ride past 1 day. That sound stuck with me. Plus where I live, supersports and superbikes are utterly useless and honestly, they bore me to death.

So I tried and bought a KTM Duke II. It died after just 8 months when the engine suffered a fatal breakdown. I bought another KTM after that: a 950 SM. V twin so less likely to explode. Or so I thought... It gave me nothing but trouble so I got rid of it and never looked back. KTM can suck my... lemonade. Im never touching those again. But I do love me some fat single engined SM. I just hated the maintenace and reliability issues.

Then one day I realised Yamaha had made the XT 660 X: the supermoto for people who hate supermotos. I tried one at a local dealership and wasn`t impressed. I tried my current one at some shady dude ("it fell off the back of a truck, honestly!") and boy, I was sold. The handling, the sound, the (compared to KTM) lack of annoying vibrations. So I bought it and been loving every mile so far.

Currently its in hybernation for the winter. start next season Imma fit a DNA stage 2 airbox lid (allready have it lying around) and I wanna see if I can get a bit more oomph out of it without having to sell my kidneys. But thats all in the future. For now, here I am, hopefully for a while yet.

Here's the blue rascal:

It's got Leovince X3 exhaust system, PC & K&N sportsfilter.
At the start of the next riding season I wanna try and squize more torque out of it.

:006: Welcome on board.

I like the way you have taken the time to find an XT to colour-match the MR2! ;)

Happy coincidence. The MR 2 is broken though. The radiator is leaking like crazy:sad4:

Nah, the engine is in the back. no need to take it out (yet). The boot is in the front. I was just getting excess junk out of there (like the spare wheel etc.)
