R to x

Hey all I originally wanted to buy a xt660x but none where available at the time I want to put a 17inch front rim and still use my hub how will I go about my speedo and how would I get a correct reading or will I not have an issue cheers

You can lace a 17" rim onto the XTR hub and it won't affect the speedo at all as it is driven of the gearbox.

What you will probably have to do is fit some lowering links to the rear to compensate for the drop in height (about 35mm) up front. If you leave the standard ride height at the back you will more than likely find that the steering will be very twitchy and tuck in on tighter turns.

What are the differences between X and r?

Apart from the bigger front wheel?

the main diffrents are the wheels & forks..
the XTX has the axle in line with fork leg
while the XTR has it leading...
the XTX has less rake & trail than what the XTR
has...
so putting a 17" wheel in a XTR dosn't give you a XTX....
