bar end weights and handgaurds

When I bought her shed only got one bar end weight...so I took it off.

Im now looking to buy some hand gaurd's and am a tad confused. Do i need to buy a pair of bar end weights AND gaurds?...

I bought Barkbusters Storm for mine - and immediately felt that the vibrations was much stronger without the oem weights - so bought the external bar weight as well.

Yes they are expensive but it works !

I think it all depends on which bar guards you buy because where they sit is pretty much dictated by the inner mounting bracket and how it meets up against the bar's cross-member brace mountings.

I also found the garish, Chinese guards I bought, (which have the solid alloy bar in them) sort of left next to no room for the levers when in their rest position and would require an extra long M8 fastener to reach through the guard and the OE weight at the same time. I ended up faffing with equally garish smaller weights on the inside. I've now have shorter levers and spacing is a bit tidier but I definitely noticed bar-buzz without weights.

Thanks for the quick reply.. I have the same levers. Unfortunatly im restricted to online shopping as Derby has lost all of its indy bike shops. Going to have to wait till i can get to a bike show to actually see what im buying.

Am thinking of filling my bars with silicone ..

Im hoping to go to The Stafford Classic Motorbike Show( i know the xtr aint a 'classic') mid October as its the only place I can think of to actually see what Im buying.

Who knows..not I..

Silicone is not dense or heavy enough to make a difference. Filling them with lead shot is the traditional way of dealing with handlebar vibes on British singles and parallel twins. Works a treat in my BSA A65 bars. You'll just need to get shot small enough to flow through the threaded inserts at each end of the bars to make this method work on the XT.
