Autumn meet up. ..?

Just wondered if anyone fancies an Autumn meet up.....maybe just find somewhere in the countryside. ..somewhere that's a nice ride to get to. Have a bite to eat, talk crap! for a few hours and then a nice ride home!. Any thoughts / suggestions. ....? Steve

great initiative, prepare a planned route, highlight the locations and the places you intend to cover along the route and I am sure our members will be more than happy to join you.

good luck!

Great idea, On road or offroad?? Im up for it. What about a ride too hartside cafe?? Nice view, great roads, great trails. Good food.

Id happily lead an easy trail ride from Skipton up that way if anyone wanted too. Or a road ride up the scenic way.

Hi Jon , that sounds good. .but.....it's about 360 miles from me as the crow flies!. Maybe somewhere more central. ..so it's a two/three hour ride away. ..? Although I do want to get up to your neck of the woods sometime, it's great place to ride. Steve

Pleiades 07-09-16 22:40

I'm for something, whatever/wherever that may be.

Two to three hours being 100-150 miles (depending on roads) would mean anywhere within the area below...

Any suggestions Steve?

CaptMoto 08-09-16 08:08

Oldandwornout 08-09-16 09:40

Good idea Steve. Let us know where you decide

Jacques le Roux 08-09-16 22:06

Good idea Steve. Let us know where you decide. The Cotswolds look pretty central and so pretty. You should come do some covered lanes round Newbury sometime

greatescape 08-09-16 22:40

Thanks for the map Pleiades. ..I'll get on to it!, it's been work-eat-sleep -repeat this week! Steve

Jacques le Roux 09-09-16 08:15

Or Brecon Beacons is an easy do from Hants

Chrissybb 10-09-16 11:15

Long way too go and come back in a day for the southern chaps though. Depending on how far it is i may camp over and come back the day after.

greatescape 10-09-16 14:57

http://i1104.photobucket.com/albums/...psllymiyii.png Trying to think of somewhere has made me realise how 'set' in my ways I am...I know end less lovely lanes around the South Downs and tend to stick to them. I am thinking we maybe meet up at Jacque le Roux's local..the 'H' Cafe in the morning and then head off somewhere ....to be decided. Somewhere in the countryside with a great view...? Steve

steveD 10-09-16 20:11

I will go anywhere in the country, but will only camp over. I do not do day rides!:nana:

micron_Ed 10-09-16 23:31

H caf is local for me< how far are you thinking of riding for the great views etc.

Hi guys, I'm flexible on dates....It would be nice to have this meet up sometime soon. .before the nights draw in!. Maybe if those meeting up said what's good for them date wise...we can work something out. Steve

Jacques le Roux 12-09-16 20:09

Just make a date and place to suit you. Then the rest of us will fall in if possible

greatescape 13-09-16 09:01

How about the weekend of the 24th. ..this month. ..? Jacque has suggested a diner in Kingsclere (Newbury ) as an initial meeting/feeding point. We could then take advantage of Jacque 's local knowledge of the lanes....OR if we had the time /energy follow me back along the lanes , call in at Goodwood Motor Circuit, up Chalkpit lane to the Trundle. ...what do you think. .? Steve

steveD 13-09-16 09:59

This month is still summer surely!
Oct / Nov is more like it.

Steve

greatescape 13-09-16 10:38

Hi Steve, like I said. .I'm easy about the dates...and those travelling furthest / camping like yourself should have priority on dates....say what's best! Steve

Jacques le Roux 13-09-16 19:30

Hi Steve. Just saw this post. For all id suggest H cafe in Oxfordshire just outside Wallingford a better meeting point. A proper biker bar and very affordable food. The kingsclere diner while pretty and convenient is a bit pricey

Jacques le Roux 13-09-16 19:31

Let's meet up Sunday and I'll show you some covered lanes in west Berks to see what you think

greatescape 13-09-16 19:51

Hi Jacque, sounds like a plan...I'll comfirm with a p.m by Thursday. Steve

Pleiades 13-09-16 20:04

I'll be :campfire: elsewhere on the weekend of the 24th, so sadly I won't be able to join you. :sad5:

greatescape 13-09-16 20:17

Hi Pete, I think the 24th is too soon anyway for everyone. ...maybe a weekend in October. ..I'll see what the feedback is. ...! Steve

Pleiades 13-09-16 20:18

Good (I mean good for me!) I would like to be able to make it. Keep us posted...

Pleiades 13-09-16 20:50

Not sure what you're after, but if you just want somewhere to meet up and have a banter that's dead central in England, then the Victoria in Coalville, Leicestershire isn't a bad shout. They do camping at 5 a night, or do a ready-erected bell tent with beds etc to sleep six for a tenner a head. Saturdays and Sundays are what they refer to as "cruise-ins", basically an open bike meet and usually lots to see.

There are good road rides to be had out in Rutland: Market Harborough-Melton Mowbray-Colsterworth-Oakham-Rutland Water-Uppingham. Not too sure about trails though, but I'm sure they could be found and added in easy enough?

Anyway, something else to chew over...

greatescape 13-09-16 21:40

Looks like a cool place ....and as you say pretty central....and easy camping / rooms ...spot on! So sometime in October. ...what's your thoughts guys. .? Steve

Jacques le Roux 14-09-16 08:58

Hi Escape, sorry but first 3 October weekends is going to be out for me. Should have checked the diary.
