Garage stupidity
Just broke my chain and also managed to break the chain breaker. It slipped a bit and when I tried to break the chain the pin got bent, ended up just cutting it with an angle grinder. Ah well, I guess you just keep learning in life, need to be careful and not stressing... Luckily it's cheap to get a replacement pin.
So what have you manage to do in the garage guys? ;) Worst so far for me is when I was young and inexperienced I tried to jack up my Toyota in the middle of the floor, resulting in a nice dome shaped floor on the drivers side. A hammer and a piece of wood and wham! As good as new and lesson learned :icon_redface: |
Uhhhhhhhhhh, checking the spark plugs on my NS400R because it wouldn't start. To do that you have to dismantle almost the whole bike to get to the spark plug of the 3th cilinder. Then my girlfriens asked me why the the engine cut off swith was in the OFF position.

Young & inexperienced once like yourself, first time I used a Torque wrench to tighten down the cylinder head of an old CB650, I managed to snap 5 cylinder head bolts before realising that loud noise is not the Torque wrench at all. After a quick trip to the local hardware shop to get some replacement bolts I quickly sold the bike along with my shame.

I was 15 years of age which is along time ago,my old man had bought me my first motorcycle I decide to take it to pieces unable to get it back together I wait till he comes home from work,I explain the situation!!!! did you make any notes when you took it to pieces he asks? No I explain having no idea what is going on!! Well you will do next time and off he walked.
Realising that he wasn't going to put it back together took me the best part of 3 weeks to do so taught me the lesson of my life that I have never forgotten. |
There have been quite a few 'garage incidents !'. One was being advised to drill out a seized head bolt on my ancient Range rover, after blunting several drill bits I leant a little too hard on the drill...the sudden trickle of coolant told me I'd drilled through the water jacket. ..head ruined! More recently and laughably I was pushing the Tenere out of the garage and I decided to see how heavy it is if I leant it away from me.....where is the point of no return. ? I soon found out as I just couldn't hang on to it as toppled onto the XR. Completely wedged it was a nightmare to pull it free without damage..but I did. How bloody embarrassing! , luckily no one knows. ...! Steve
