Tenere - so much better than a car

At the risk of boring everyone - summer in England means airshows and this means miles and miles of tailbacks. My Tenere is the perfect answer. When hundreds of cars are stationary, its like the road is yours. And you get to park right in front of the action. This was RIAT in Wiltshire a few weeks ago. And you get to see it all, not having to leave early to miss the worse congestion. The perfect tool.

nice photos from your IPhone Jac.

If only. Sadly you need serious glass to get near the planes and even then some luck too. That's the new F35 stealth fighter which the RAF have on order to replace Harrier

Some cracking pics there mate.

What you shooting with?
And what glass?
It looks like at least 500mm?

Hi Deke, in my dreams. Yes would love the 500mm Canon but its a bike 's price (well actually more). I use the 'cheaper' 400mm f5.6, as its relatively cheap and even more important light enough to handhold. It also packs in a smallish bag, so can go on the bike. Good as long as you have reasonable light. But each upgrade in camera's are making them faster and focus better. So I'm holding onto this one and just need to keep on working on that swing and panning.

Oh and lastly and probably most important is you can never be close enough. If you think its right then step even closer.

My XT gets me right to the front. I love it.

Deke 12-09-16 16:35

Ah nice.
Yea I couldn't even afford the Canon 400mm! I went for a cheap 'Opteka' (nope me either) 100-400mm shipped over from the US.
It's the slowest auto focus EVER (when it works at all)
But I've still managed to get some decent shots with it, usually at 300mm as It's a tad soft at 400mm.

Some of the shots I took at Blackpool airshow a few years ago.

Nice photos Jacque. ..and yes the Tenere is the perfect anti -traffic tool!, my route to work has been gridlocked by the Goodwood Revival lately, and the joy of filtering past hundreds of cars...especially when they are mainly expensive 'supercars'! ! . And Deke. ..impressive photos! Steve

Thanks Steve, appreciate it :)
