2nd time newbie saying hello

Hello, just a post to say hello and introduce myself.
I've always been into sports bikes but back in 2005, decided to have a change so bought an XTX (also became a member of this forum in its old guise). I took it to France but after riding back from Cannes - Peterborough on a day filled with strong winds and rain and wearing what was sold to me as a water proof suit (but should have been sold as a parachute), decided I still preferred sports bikes. I made an effort and modified the bike but it was still not for me so sold it.
Fast forward 10 years and with the life I have, I've now realised that the idea of owning a sports bike is better than the reality so have now purchased a Tenere. Very impressive.
I genuinely can't believe how many of my boxes it ticks. I wanted something that can put a smile on my face, has good fuel economy, is reliable and doesn't cost the earth (15K on a new R!???) as it might sit in the garage for a while between ride out opportunities (wife, 3 kids, shift work etc etc) There are a few down side though. The seat isn't as comfy as I expected it to be, although maybe it'll soften up over time and It would have been helpful to have a little storage space for a disk lock/stand pad, so I may look at making a few mods in the future. But for now look forward to enjoy the bike when time permits and of course this forum (which seems a lot better than when I was last a member).
Colin.

Welcome back mate. In regards to the seat I like the look of Seat Consepts version but I have found over time my butt has grown accustomed to it so will stick with it for the foreseeable future. I think I'll put the cash to a suspension job later instead.

Thanks mate. I'm hoping that's what happens with me. Don't really want to change the seat as I like the look of the standard one. We'll see. ..

I thought the username sounded familiar, gee it has been a long time, welcome back.

Thanks for the kind words on the forum being better. We've just streamlined and concentrated on the essential.

In regards to your seat being too hard, a good solution would be to find a proper seat upholsterer to un stitch it and fit a gel pad or a softer foam insert by cutting a layer of the old one, these people can make wonders when they re-stapled them together you can't even tell.

Enjoy the forum and the Tenere and let's hope you'll stay for the next 10 years.
when my ride will be a mobility scooter :D :poke1:
