Fork Spacer Mod

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has a picture of the actual spacer as i can't find any pictures anywhere. Also the instructions seem to have disappeared as well so any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Cheers for the photo. I am still not sure where the spacer goes. Also is it made from stainless steel.

The spacers sit on top of the fork spring, between spring and cap. Kev's (and those in the photo) were made out of aluminium, but the can be made from mild steel, stainless or acetal (tough chemical resistant plastic) tubing quite successfully. In fact acetal tubing is the easiest to work with for the DIYer as you don't need access to any specialist tooling. It's cheap too. I have always used this material to make spacers and stand offs.

36mm OD x 20mm ID off the shelf acetal works perfectly for XT spacers:

You can get four spacers made out of a 100mm length for less than five quid.

I found they made the forks very harsh for my weight "80kg"
on the dirt...
But it had a lot less wollow on the seal in the corners...

In a word... No.

You need to invert them and pump them in and out to expel all the old oil. If you don't, and just try and draw it out with a syringe and long tube as some people try and do to save time, then you'll never know how much oil got left behind and it will therefore be impossible to gauge the exact amount to fill them up with. Also, without inverting and pumping you will inevitably end up with the sludgy stuff stuck at the bottom left behind.
