experience short yamaha windshield?
 

Hello everyone!

I'm new at the forum so I don't know if this post is in the right place.
But I recently got my motorcycle license and bought a xt660r as my first bike and love it so far!:luv[1]:

The only problem so far is the wind on my chest with higher speeds.
So I am thinking to buy a windscreen, but find the big windscreen from yamaha to big and not good looking with the bike.
The shorter version is much better looking, but I wonder if it does the job well?
I'm only 1m68 tall so I think it is high enough to cover my body (only not my helmet).

Does someone have any experience with the shorter yamaha windscreen?

ps. I find the puig windscreen not good looking either.

thanks for the suggestion of the givi windscreen, but it is not realy my taste.
It looks like it is somewhat the same hight as the large yamaha windscreen.

For the moment the only screen I like is the short yamaha windscreen. But I wonder if it does the job well :/

I have that big yamaha one screen. 175 cm. It will kill your ears. Post your experience, please, if you go for shorter one.

Good to know! I must say I am very happy with my scorpion exo-1000air helmet and dont have mush trouble with noise so don't know if it should be a problem with me.
If it is the wind noise you are talking about. But I find that the tall yamaha windshield not good looking.

But I have found a gorgeous tall screen but it is of a post 5 years ago and he didn't answer.
So please if someone knows which screen tis is tell me! :ne1:

I'm defenitly getting the short windscreen, so I will tell yo my experience with it ;)

I also don't like the large touring screen.

I have a puig one which is a little taller than standard and blend in very well with the lines of the bike

If it's the medium sized Yamaha screen then yes I have it. There is the small original size , medium and large one ... Which is ugly ! Medium works really well and pushes the air up off your chest but doesn't buffet your helmet, and it looks good . Hope this helps

I had the Puig screen on my XT660X and I found it excellent. It all depends on a combination of factors such as your height, what helmet you use, what kind of riding you do etc etc so all of us will have our own experiences. I love the Puig screen and I think that it suits the bike but again this is a personal opinion. Good luck!!!

yes it is about the medium sized one that I was talking. I have orderd one and normaly have it one of these days.
I'm really looking forward to instal it on my xt660r, and I'm going to post my experience with this windscreen here so I maybe can help others by choosing the right windscreen.

can you, please, take some measurement of the screen and post it here? I am thinking to cut my screen a little bit and make it medium one, hopefully ...

It is quit dificult to measure the screen because of the curves of it.
But I think that it is the best if you cut it a little by little just till it is perfect for you. Like that you are not going to cut it to much.

But I measured mine with a tape measure from the middle bottom of te screen to the highest point and it measured lying flat on the screen 30cm.

I will be getting this week Puig windscreen for XTX 07. year

Now i have trouble fighting with wind on 130 km/h on highway, i hope it will be better with windscreen because next week i'm going to vacation and there is a lot highways :D

I had the same probleme! But I now installed the medium sized yamaha windscreen and it does the job well and looks good!
It is not that there is no wind any more, but the wind is deflected just to the top of my shoulders and helmet.
Now there are people complaining that there is to much wind noise, but with my scorpion exo1000 air I have no issues at al (without playing music, with playing music true my sena 3s I don't hear any wind at all).

I must say I am only 1m70 tall!
