Fitting exhaust
 

Any tips on removing/ changing exhaust. .? Anything to watch out for. ...and do you need exhaust sealant...? Thanks, Steve

Just take your time with it Steve. You shouldn't need any exhaust sealant. When fitting I found loosely doing up the fixings so your happy with the position then tighten everything up. The trickiest bit can be keeping the rear mud guard water tight as to not throw crud off the back wheel all over the electrics under the seat. My Akra's came with bits to fill in the hole in the guards, but I wasn't to keen on that so managed to successfully manipulate the orginal guard section back in.

Looking forward to see what you've done. I just took a bit of thick black plastic card (from staples), cut it to shape and drilled two holes where the old pipe (and mounting bracket) screws go. This holds it in place. I tucked it under the frame. Job done.

I'm pretty sure he's all done now,we should see some pictures soon!..

Did you fit it all loosely first? You tend to run into alignment issues if you tighten things up too far as you fit them one by one.

Now you've got it all in place, a good tip for getting both cans symmetrical, is to back off all of the joints and both support straps and then work systematically tightening everything from back to front. Make sure the joints are loose enough to twist and slide in and out but still have some frictional resistance. Start by getting the cans exactly where you want them (getting someone to hold them in place helps) then tighten things up in the following order: Can straps, can to link pipe joints, link pipe mid-joint and finally last of all the link pipe to the OE 'Y' pipe.

Yup I know what you mean. You do have to lower your standards a bit sometimes in a mass produced society to avoid bitter disappointments. For the life of me I couldn't quite get the tail section to sit central between the Akra's. Then there's the poor alignment of the the headlight cradle which a a result makes the front look 'slightly skew' if you look to hard. & the inside of the Tacho & speedo weren't cleaned properly so appear to have been wiped with a dirty dish cloth before installation. Nuts.

But all said & done Steve those pipes do look fantastic. Just be careful when passing small children & the elderly as you may blow them over.
